Tue, May 21, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Wrestling Loses A Close One To Platteville Posted: Friday, January 20, 2006 PLATTEVILLE - The UW-Eau Claire wrestling team was narrowly defeated tonight in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual meet against UW-Platteville 24-22. The loss drops the Blugolds to 1-12 in dual meets overall and 0-3 in the WIAC. The victory gives the Pioneers a 3-1 dual meet record in the conference. In a close meet that came down to the last match five Blugolds picked up victories on the night. Sean Zais (Fr.-Glidden, WI), at 125 pounds, picked up his first victory of the season by forfeit. Derek Sikora (Sr.-Neillsville, WI), at 165 pounds, improved his record to 14-2 as he defeated his opponent 16-5 in a major decision. Lance Valiquette (Jr.-Auburn, WA) won his 16th match of the season defeating his opponent 11-4. Others picking up wins for the Blugolds were Joey Miller (So.-Lake Tomahawk, WI/Lakeland Union), at 184 pounds, who improved to a record of 17-8 with 15-8 victory over Justin Seichter of Platteville. Finally, Justin Mc Auly (Jr.-Clintonville, WI), at 197 pounds, picked up his fourth pin of the season as he pinned his opponent in 4:45.
