Sun, May 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's Basketball To Host UW-Superior Wednesday Night Posted: Monday, January 16, 2006 EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire men's basketball team will try to get back to its winning ways when it hosts UW-Superior on Wednesday night in Zorn Arena. The Blugolds have an overall record of 8-7 this season and a 1-6 conference record. The Yellowjackets have an overall record of 4-10 and are winless in the conference at 0-7. The Yellowjackets do play tonight against Michigan Tech. Jared Bardon (So.-DeForest, WI) continues to lead the Blugolds in scoring this season, averaging 13.8 points per game. Zack Ryan (So.-Lake Elmo, MN/Tartan) has played well so far in the first four games of 2006, leading the Blugolds in scoring in two of those four games. Matt Riley (Jr.-Cadott, WI) has also played well the last four games by leading or being tied for the team-high in rebounds three of those four games. The Blugolds as a team have spread ball around very well in games this season, averaging 13.6 assists per game, which is third in the conference. The Blugolds have also crashed the boards well on the offensive-end, averaging 12.13 offensive rebounds per game. The Yellowjackets are led in scoring by Leonard Cobb who is averaging 20.9 points per game this season, which is top in the conference. Cobb also leads the conference in rebounds per game with an average of 9.1. The Blugolds are 114-55 all-time against the Yellowjackets and have won 15 of the last 18 contests between the schools. However, in the last meeting the Yellowjackets defeated the Blugolds 89-85 in triple overtime. Prior to that home loss last season, the last Blugold home-loss to the Yellowjackets came way back in 1978. The tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Zorn Arena. - JR - |
