Fri, May 24, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's Hockey Shocks Gustavus For Second Win Posted: Saturday, January 14, 2006 EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire men's hockey team has now won two of its last three games following a 5-2 upset victory tonight over Gustavus Adolphus. The win gives the Blugolds an overall record of 2-12-3 and the loss drops Gustavus to 9-3-1. The Blugolds have now won two-straight over the Gusties by identical scores. After a scoreless first period, which saw the Gusties out-shoot the Blugolds 12-5, the Blugolds struck first, nine minutes into the second period on a Brooks Lockwood (Jr.-Hudson, WI) goal. Jeremiah Weber (So.-Hayward, WI) and Ben Bosworth (Fr.-Hudson, WI) were credited with the assists. Just three-and-a-half minutes later the Blugolds would strike again on a Chip Dunleavy (Sr.-Littleton, CO/Columbine) goal to make the score 2-0. Brad Wiechmann (Fr.-Austin, MN) and Andy Klapperick (Sr.-Austin, MN) assisted on the goal. Following a Gustavus goal by Mike Hosfield to make the score 2-1, the Blugolds' Dave Coleman (Jr.-Whitby, ONT/Leo J.Austin) would score with 54 seconds left in the second period to put the Blugolds up 3-1. Dan Lohr (Jr.-Madison, WI/Middleton) and Mike Schneider (Fr.-Owatonna, MN) assisted on this goal. Then just a minute into the third period the Blugolds would extend their lead after a Ben Bosworth goal to make the score 4-1. Brooks Lockwood had the assist. The Gusties' Jon Keseley would make things interesting scoring a power-play goal with 15 minutes to play in the game to cut the Blugold lead to 4-2. However, the Blugolds would hold it from there and Chip Dunleavy would score his second of the game on an empty net as the Blugolds went onto win 5-2. Blugold goalie Steffan Braunlich (Sr.-Los Angeles, CA/Loyola) picked up his second win of the season as he stopped 30 shots. The Blugolds will be at home again next Friday night, as they will host rival UW-River Falls in conference match-up. The puck is scheduled to drop at 7 p.m. in the Hobbs Ice Center. - JR - |
