Swimming: Nicole Dorvinen, Senior, Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port
Dorvinen helped the Blugolds to a 147-96 victory over UW-Whitewater by winning two events with pool-record times. She came in first in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a pool-record time of 10:33.69, almost 40 seconds ahead of the rest of the field and more than 10 seconds faster than the previous pool record, while also winning the 500-yard freestyle with a pool-record time of 5:10.34. The previous pool record in the 500-yard event was 5:11.28, set by Laura Ladwig in 1982. The previous pool record in the 1,000-yard freestyle was 10:43.98, set by Laura Ladwig in 1981.

Dorvinen won two events as the Blugolds took second place Saturday at the UW-Stevens Point Invite. She was first in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:10.57 while also taking first in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:41.64, almost six seconds in front of the rest of the field. Dorvinen was also second in the 200-yard individual medley.

Swimming: Nicole Dorvinen, Senior, Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port
Dorvinen raced to first in the 500 and 1,000-yard freestyle races as well as the 200-yard butterfly this weekend against UW-La Crosse. Dorvinen recorded a time of 2:10.63, a pool record, in the 200 fly and of 5:16.36 in the 500-freestyle. She won the 1,000 freestyle in 10:44.58 with a 27 second margin of victory.

Swimming: Nicole Dorvinen, Senior, Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port
Dorvinen had a superb weekend as the Blugolds competed at the UW-River Falls Falcon Invitational. She won two races, the 200-yard butterfly and the 400-yard individual medley. Dorvinen completed the respective races with times of 2:07.87 and 4:36.40, both of which were B-cut times for nationals. She was also second in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:29.52, also a B-cut time of nationals. She won the 400 IM less than 35 minutes after completing the 1,650 freestyle.

Swimming: Sara Eggebrecht, Junior, Abbotsford, Wis./Colby
Eggebrecht won two individual events and was part of the winning 200-yard medley relay team with season-best times Friday against UW-River Falls and MSU-Moorhead. She took the top spot with a mark of 1:02.59 in the 100-yard backstroke while winning the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:15.42. The 200-yard medley relay team which she was a part of, won with a time of 1:52.50.

Swimming: Kirsten Lickel, Senior, Madison, Wis./East
Lickel was part of two victories this weekend as the Blugolds beat UW-Oshkosh 146-95. She was part of the winning 400-yard freestyle relay team that took the top spot with a time of 3:44.56 while she also won the 400-yard individual medley with a mark of 4:48.81. Lickel was also second in the 200-yard backstroke.

Dorvinen led the Eau Claire effort, picking up three wins, as the Blugolds defeated UW-Stevens Point for the first time since the 1997-98 season while falling to St. Cloud State University on Saturday. Dorvinen raced to victory in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:12.45 and the 400-yard individual medley in just 4:44.06. She also beat her challengers by a full 15 seconds in the 1,000-yard freestyle event with a final time of 10:50.28.

Eggebrecht was part of two first place finishes Friday as the Blugolds opened the season again Minnesota State University-Mankato. She led off the winning 400-yard medley relay team and also took the top spot in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:17.06. Eggebrecht also took fifth in the 200-yard freestyle.
