2012-13 Swimming & Diving Athletes of the Week
January 21, 2013-January 27, 2013
Swimming: Grace Fair, Senior, Monticello, Minn.
Fair won two events while leading off a runner-up 400-yard freestyle relay team at UW-Whitewater on Saturday. Fair took first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.52 seconds and also won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 55.41 seconds. The Blugolds came in second place in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:45.57, less than two seconds behind the top team.

Swimming: Lisa Reed, Sophomore, Duluth, Minn./East
Competing in three events this weekend at the UW-Stevens Point Invitational, where the Blugolds finished second out of five teams, Reed won once while taking third and fourth in other two events. She won the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:29.20, more than 20 seconds in front of the second place finisher, while taking third in the 500-yard freestyle and fourth in the 200-yard freestyle.

Diving: Amanda Baker, Freshman, Hudson, Wis.
Baker won the three-meter dive and was second in the one-meter as the Blugolds took second place out of five teams at the UW-Stevens Point Invitational this weekend. She scored 436.40 on the three-meter and 434.15 on the one-meter, both of which were national qualifying marks.

Fair won two events this weekend as the Blugolds took second at the St. Thomas Invitational. She took first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.29 seconds and won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.89 seconds. Fair was also part of two relay teams that came in second place.

Baker won both the one and three-meter dives this weekend at the St. Thomas Invitational, where the Blugolds finished second. She won the three-meter dive Friday with 219.45 points and took first in the one-meter Saturday with a score of 221.75.

Swimming: Abby Meyer, Junior, Apple Valley, Minn.
At the Rochester Invitational this weekend, hosted by St. Cloud State University (Minn.), Meyer helped the Blugolds to a seventh place finish out of 11 teams. Her best finish came in the 200-yard freestyle relay as she and the Blugolds took sixth place with a time of 1:39.70.

Swimming: Maggie Reilly, Junior, Saint Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville
Reilly was part of four victories this weekend as she won three individual events and one relay event. Friday against MSU-Moorhead, she won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:01.55 and also took first in the 400-yard individual medley with a mark of 4:54.16. She also swam third in the 400-yard medley relay and the Blugolds went on to win the event with a time of 4:08.72. Saturday against MSU-Moorhead, UW-River Falls and UW-Oshkosh, Reilly won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:22.99, almost two seconds in front of the rest of the field. She was also fifth in the 200-yard individual medley and was part of the runner-up 200-yard medley relay team.

Baker picked up four wins this weekend as the Blugolds competed at home twice. Friday against MSU-Moorhead, Baker won the three-meter dive with a score of 252.45 and the one-meter with a mark of 240.25. Saturday facing MSU-Moorhead, UW-River Falls and UW-Oshkosh, Baker took the top spot in the three-meter with a score of 261.00 and was first in the one-meter with 252.40 points. The marks she achieved this weekend were the highest of the season.

Swimming: Lisa Reed, Sophomore, Duluth, Minn./East
Competing in three events this weekend, Reed won one while taking second in another individual event. She also swam on a relay team that took third. Reed won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:14.57, almost 30 seconds in front of the rest of the field. She also claimed second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:31.28 and was part of the 800-yard freestyle relay team that took third with a time of 8:18.56.

Baker won the three-meter dive while taking third in the one-meter as the Blugolds faced UW-La Crosse on Saturday. She came in first in the three-meter with a score of 241.00 and was third in the one-meter with a score of 208.65.

Reed was runner-up in two events and took third in another as the Blugolds competed at NCAA Division II Northern Michigan University on Saturday. She was part of the 400-yard freestyle relay team that took second with a time of 3:55.59 and claimed second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:34.63. Reed also finished third in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:20.19.

Baker took second on both the one and three-meter boards as the Blugolds competed at NCAA Division II Northern Michigan University on Saturday. She finished with 215.85 points in the one-meter dive and scored a season-best 230.10 in the three-meter.

Diving: Amanda Baker, Freshman, Hudson, Wis.
On Oct. 27, Baker took third in both the one and three-meter dives facing UW-Stevens Point and NCAA Division II St. Cloud State University (Minn.). In the one-meter, she scored 236.10, narrowly missing second place while she finished in front of two St. Cloud divers. In the three-meter, she scored 234.55, finishing less than three points out of first place behind two St. Cloud Divers.

Reilly was runner-up in two events while taking third and fourth in two others as the Blugolds opened the season Friday at NCAA Division II MSU-Mankato. She took second in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 28.41 seconds and second in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:21.64. In the 100-yard butterfly, Reilly was fourth with a time of 1:02.68 while she and three of her teammates swam to a third-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay.
