2008 Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

April 21, 2008-April 27, 2008

Track (Relay): 4x400-meter relay team (Liz Faller, Senior, Marinette, Wis.; Laura Broner, Junior, Madison, Wis./Memorial; Corinna Saager, Freshman, Wausau, Wis./East; Liz Kooistra, Junior, Lakeville, Minn.)
At the Drake relays in Des Moines, Iowa, the Blugold 4x400-meter relay team picked up a sixth place finish. The team's time of 3:51.51 was the fastest time in the WIAC this season and an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying mark.

Field: Alicia Schuelke, Junior, Gilman, Wis.
Competing in the high jump this weekend at the UW-Oshkosh Invitational where the Blugolds finished third out of nine teams, Schuelke took the top spot in the high jump. Her height of 5-5 ' was not only the highest in the WIAC this season, but also tied for the fifth highest in all of NCAA Division III. The leap was also an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying mark.

April 14, 2008-April 20, 2008

Track: Liz Kooistra, Junior, Lakeville, Minn.
Kooistra helped the Blugolds this weekend to a second place finish out of nine teams at the Phil Esten Challenge in La Crosse by taking the top spot in two events. She won the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.54, the second fastest time in the conference this season. Kooistra also took first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.86.

Field: Hayley Suckow, Sophomore, Elk Mound, Wis.
Competing in only one field event this week, the pole vault, Suckow won the event to help the Blugolds to a second place finish at La Crosse's Phil Esten Challenge. Her height of 11-11 ' is an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying height, and also the second highest vault this season in the WIAC. She finished six inches ahead of the second place finisher.

March 31, 2008-April 6, 2008

Track: Liz Faller, Senior, Marinette, Wis.
This weekend Eau Claire finished with a second place spot at the UW-Oshkosh Invite. Faller was part of two first place performances at the invite. She won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.57 and also was part of the 4x400-meter relay team that took the top spot with a time of 3:54.87, an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying time.

Field: Haley Suckow, Freshman, Elk Mound, Wis.
Competing in one field event for the Blugolds this weekend at the UW-Oshkosh Invite, Suckow took third place in the pole vault with a height of 10-11 '.

February 18, 2008-February 24, 2008

Track: Hannah Humbach, Sophomore, Madison, Wis./Abundant Life
This weekend the Blugolds took second out of 11 teams at the UW-Stevens Point Invitational. In the 800-meter run, Humbach took second place with a time of 2:17.46, the fifth fastest time in the WIAC this season.

Field: Amy Oldenburg, Sophomore, Minocqua, Wis./Lakeland Union
Helping the Blugolds to a second place finish at the UW-Stevens Point Invitaional this Saturday, Oldenburg took second place in the triple jump. Her jump of 35-3 ' ranks as the ninth longest in the WIAC this season.

February 10, 2008-February 17, 2008

Track: Hannah Humbach, Sophomore, Madison, Wis./Abundant Life
Competing in one event this Saturday at the UW-Platteville Open, Humbach took the top spot. She finished with a time of 10:25.72 in the 3,000-meter run for the first place finish.

Field: Amy Morse, Junior, Kaukauna, Wis.
Morse hit an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying mark as she took second place in the weight throw this weekend at the UW-Platteville Open. She threw 16.03 meters (52' 7 '').

February 4, 2008-February 10, 2008

Track: Liz Kooistra, Junior, Lakeville, Minn.
The Blugolds took home first place out of 12 teams at the UW-Stevens Point Eastbay Invite this Saturday. Participating in two events, Kooistra finished with victories in both. Her first place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.96 is a facility record and also an NCAA provisional qualifying score. She also placed first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.14.

Field: Hayley Suckow, Sophomore, Elk Mound, Wis.
In the Blugolds' first place finish out of 12 teams at UW-Stevens Point's Eastbay Invite, Suckow won the pole vault with a 3.25-meter vault.

January 28, 2008-February 3, 2008

Track: Molly Warner, Senior, Mosinee, Wis.
Warner competed in the 3,000-meter dash this weekend at UW-Stout's Warren Bowlus Open. She finished in first place with a time 10:26.58, almost two seconds ahead of the second place finisher.

Field: Amy Morse, Junior, Kaukauna, Wis.
At UW-Stout's Warren Bowlus Open on Saturday, Morse set a school record in the weight throw. Her throw of 15.77 meters lifted her to a first place finish and also improved her provisional qualifying mark.

January 21, 2008-January 27, 2008

Track: Liz Kooistra, Junior, Lakeville, Minn.
Kooistra again had an impressive performance this weekend at the UW-Whitewater Invite, helping the Blugolds take first place out of 17 teams. Kooistra ran in the 400-meter dash and took first place with a time of 58.08, a provisional qualifying score.

Field: Tonya White, Sophomore, Byron, Minn.
White participated in three field events this weekend at the UW-Whitewater Invite, where the Blugolds took first place out of 17 teams. In the long jump, White took home second place with a jump of 5.11 meters. She also turned in a ninth place performance in the pole vault with a 2.90 meter vault and a tenth place performance in the triple jump, jumping 9.63 meters.

January 14, 2008-January 20, 2008

Track: Liz Kooistra, Junior, Lakeville, Minn.
Won the 800-meter run with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 2:16.35 in the Blugold Open. Beat St. Thomas' Katie Theisen who was clocked in 2:16.74. The two ran away from the field which included 25 participants in that event. No one else was under 2:20.

Field: Alicia Schuelke, Junior, Gilman
Tied Winona's Kale Johnson for second in the high jump at the Blugold Open, clearing 4 feet, 11.75 inches. The event was won by Bethel's Vanessa Moore with a leap of 5 feet, 3.75 inches.

January 7, 2008-January 13, 2008

Track: Laura Broner, Junior, Madison, Wis./Memorial
Competing at the annual Badger Classic in Madison, the Blugolds kicked off their 2008 indoor season. Broner placed high for Eau Claire, finishing in fourth place in the 400 meter dash. She finished with a time of 1:00.85, less than one second behind the second place finisher. She lost only to Marquette and UW-Madison opponents.

Field: Briana Berg, Sophomore, Arcadia, Wis.
At the Badger Classic this weekend in Madison, the Blugolds started their 2008 indoor campaign. Berg did very well in the long jump, finishing fifth. Berg jumped 5.05 meters in the finals, less than one meter behind the top finisher from Northern Illinois.
