2003-04 Golf Athletes of the Week

April 12, 2004-April 18, 2004

Maggie Loney, So., River Falls, WI
Loney helped the Blugolds earn two second-place finishes including a tie for second at the 12-team field at the Illinois Wesleyan Spring Fling. The field featured six top 25 teams. The Blugolds finished only behind top ranked De Pauw (IN) University on the day defeating ranked teams such as UW-Oshkosh, UW-Whitewater, Hope (MI) College and host Illinois Wesleyan. Loney's one-day total of 75 was four strokes behind medalist Jessica Schneider of De Pauw. On Thursday the Blugolds finished second at the 10-team Augie Invite in which Loney finished ninth firing an 87 on the day.

September 22, 2003-September 28, 2003

Jennifer Prock, Sr., Eau Claire (Memorial)
Prock was the most consistent Blugold golfer this weekend at the UW-Oshkosh Invitational, shooting rounds of 84 and 81 to finish in sixth place overall. Prock also had a good round at the Carthage Invite on Friday as she shot an 80 to finish in fifth place overall.

September 15, 2003-September 21, 2003

Crystal O'Connell, So., New Richmond
O?Connell had a great weekend at the 2003 Illinois Wesleyan Fall Golf Classic as she led the Blugolds to a fifth place finish amongst excellent competition. O?Connell shot an opening round 76, first on the Blugold roster, and followed it with a second round 79 to finish with a 155 and in a tie for 14th place overall on the tournament.

September 8, 2003-September 14, 2003

Crystal O'Connell, So., New Richmond
O?Connell set a blistering pace on the front nine as the Blugolds won the Knox (IL) College Women?s Invitational in Galesburg, IL. In the one-day invitational O?Connell tied the lowest front-nine score of the day with a 38 en route to finishing tied for ninth overall with an 82. The Blugolds won the 17-team tournament defeating second-place UW-Oshkosh by four strokes.

September 1, 2003-September 7, 2003

Maggie Loney, So., River Falls
Loney took first place by four strokes at the UW-Whitewater Invitational as she led the Blugolds to a second place finish. Loney fired back to back rounds in the sub 80-s, shooting a first round 76 and following with a second round 78. She finished with a 154, claiming first place by four strokes.

August 25, 2003-August 31, 2003

Kelly Gerzsenyi, Fr., Rochester, MN (Mayo)
The freshman Gerzsenyi put on a show in her Blugold debut as she shot a first round 80 at the UWEC Invitational to finish the first day in a tie for first place in a field of 113 golfers. She showed her tremendous first round was not a fluke as she shot a day-two 82 to finish in a tie for third place on the event. Her efforts helped lead the Blugolds to a second place finish out of 16 teams at the invite.
