2007 Cross Country Athletes of the Week

Monica Rolbiecki, Freshman, Eau Claire, Wis./North
In the Olde English Classic, hosted by Beloit College this weekend, Rolbiecki led the Blugolds with a time of 21:50 in the 5K race. Rolbiecki finshed the day in fourth place and lost only to Beloit runners. Her fourth place finish out of 95 runners helped lead the Blugolds to a second place finish overall.

Beth Lutz, Junior, Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial
This weekend at the University of Minnesota's Roy Griak Invitational, Lutz helped propel UW-Eau Claire to a third place finish out of 42 teams. Lutz's time of 23:03.6 was good enough for ninth place out of 563 runners. She finished just over one minute behind the first place finisher.

Jenna Smith, Sophomore, Robbinsdale, Minn./Cooper
Smith helped the Blugolds to a ninth place finish in a 17-team field at the Blugold Open this weekend. Smith finished the 6K course with a time of 25:18, good enough for 46th place out of 243 runners.

Lutz finished 7th overall, with a time of 23:02, at the St. Olaf Invitational this weekend and helped lead UW-Eau Claire to the team victory. The meet had a total of 25 teams including four other WIAC schools (UW-La Crosse, UW-Platteville, UW-Whitewater and UW-River Falls).

This weekend at the Ele Hansen Invite in Northfield, Minn., Rolbiecki was the first Blugold to finish with a time of 21:10, good enough for 21st place overall. She finished the race less than a minute behind the top runner from St. Thomas in the 89-runner field.
