2012-13 Basketball Athletes of the Week

February 11, 2013-February 17, 2013

Courtney Lewis, Forward, 5-10, Sophomore, Prairie Du Chien, Wis.
With the Blugolds splitting this week, winning 77-68 at UW-Platteville on Wednesday and falling 66-55 at UW-Stevens Point on Saturday, Lewis averaged 19.5 points and 4.5 rebounds. At Platteville, Lewis scored a career-high 28 points to lead the game, and also had six rebounds and six assists. Saturday, she led the Blugolds in scoring with 11 points. For the week, she totaled eight assists and three steals while shooting 59.3 percent (16-for-27) from the field, including 3-for-4 from beyond the arc.

February 4, 2013-February 10, 2013

Sarah Bingea, Forward, 6-0, Senior, Delano, Minn.
Playing just one game this week, Bingea reached 1,000 career points as she helped lead the team to an 81-70 victory over UW-Stout on Saturday. Bingea needed just 13 points headed into Saturday's game to reach the milestone and with just over three minutes remaining in the game, she hit two free throws to put her at 1,000 points. She is just the 16th Blugold in history to reach the mark. Bingea finished the game with 13 points, third most on the team, while leading the Blugolds with 10 rebounds and tying for a game-high four assists.

January 28, 2013-February 3, 2013

Kristin Sahr, Guard, 5-9, Sophomore, Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area
Playing in two games this week, Sahr came away with a career-high 23 points Saturday at UW-River Falls. While the Falcons led by 12 points with five minutes left in the first half, over the final five minutes, the Blugolds used a 15-2 run to get back into the game. Sahr came up big for Eau Claire in that stretch and scored eight straight to end the half, which gave the Blugolds a 32-31 lead headed into the break. But River Falls came back to win the game 61-53. Coming into Saturday's game, Sahr had 37 points playing in 16 games while he scored a total of 19 points playing in 13 games last season. Against UW-Oshkosh, a game the Blugolds lost, Sahr finished with one rebound as she played four minutes. For the week, she had two assists while averaging 11.5 points and two rebounds per game. She was 8-for-17 from the floor, including 4-for-9 from beyond the arc, and went 3-for-3 from the free throw line.

January 21, 2013-January 27, 2013

Courtney Lewis, Forward, 5-10, Sophomore, Prairie Du Chien, Wis.
Lewis led the Blugolds in scoring twice this week as they faced two WIAC opponents. Against UW-Superior on Wednesday, she tied for a career-high 20 points to lead the game. She also tied for a team-best six rebounds. Facing UW-Whitewater on Wednesday, she led the Blugolds with nine points and tied for a team-high two assists. For the week, she averaged 14.5 points and four rebounds, while coming away with two assists and two steals.

January 14, 2013-January 20, 2013

Sarah Bingea, Forward, 6-0, Senior, Delano, Minn.
In one game this week, a 58-51 overtime loss at UW-La Crosse, Bingea finished with a double-double with 21 points and 14 rebounds, both of which were game highs. The double-double was her fourth of the season. Bingea also recorded three assists and one block, playing 43 minutes.

January 7, 2013-January 13, 2013

Sarah Bingea, Forward, 6-0, Senior, Delano, Minn.
Bingea helped the Blugolds to two wins this week, defeating UW-Oshkosh 52-46 Wednesday and following with a 42-38 win Saturday over UW-River Falls. She averaged 18 points and 6.5 rebounds while also coming away with two steals and three assists. She led the Blugolds in scoring and rebounding in both games with six rebounds and a game-high 22 points Wednesday along with seven rebounds and 14 points Saturday.

December 24, 2012-January 6, 2013

Sarah Bingea, Forward, 6-0, Senior, Delano, Minn.
In five games over the Holiday break, Bingea averaged 13.2 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. She led the Blugolds in scoring twice, finishing four out of five games in double figures, and led the team in rebounding four times. Against UW-Stout on Thursday, Bingea recorded a double-double, scoring 12 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. For the two week period, she went 47.3 percent (26-for-55) from the field and 77.8 percent (14-for-18) from the free throw line, averaging 34.8 minutes per contest. Bingea had a total of 43 rebounds, six steals and four assists.

December 10, 2012-December 16, 2012

Sarah Bingea, Forward, 6-0, Senior, Delano, Minn.
Bingea led the Blugolds in scoring and rebounding twice this week in two road games, which the Blugolds split. Saturday in a 56-52 victory over Luther College (Iowa), Bingea led the game with 15 points while leading the team with eight rebounds. She also tied for a game-high five steals. Wednesday at UW-Superior, a game the Blugolds lost 73-65, Bingea scored 14 points and pulled down six rebounds to lead the Blugolds. For the week, she averaged 14.5 points and seven rebounds per game. Bingea shot 92.9 percent from the free throw line (13-for-14).

December 3, 2012-December 9, 2012

Courtney Lewis, Forward, 5-10, Sophomore, Prairie Du Chien, Wis.
In two WIAC games this week, Lewis averaged 16 points going 13-for-22 (59.1 percent) from the field and 4.5 rebounds. She also finished the week with four assists and two steals. Wednesday in a 62-57 overtime win against UW-Platteville, she inbounded the ball for Eau Claire with 1.3 seconds left in regulation and found Teenie Lichtfuss, who nailed a basket at the buzzer to tie the game at 49. Lewis finished that game with 13 points, second most on the team, and three rebounds. Saturday she tied for a team-high with 19 points against 14th-ranked UW-Whitewater. She also pulled down six rebounds.

November 26, 2012-December 2, 2012

Sarah Bingea, Forward, 6-0, Senior, Delano, Minn.
With two victories this week, including one over conference opponent UW-La Crosse to open WIAC play, Bingea averaged a double-double with 13.5 points and 11.5 rebounds. Thursday as the Blugolds beat Wartburg College (Iowa) 47-45, Bingea led the game with 12 points and 12 rebounds. She followed that performance Saturday with 15 points and 11 rebounds and the Blugolds beat UW-La Crosse 63-55. For the week, she also finished with three steals, two assists and one block.

November 19, 2012-November 25, 2012

Courtney Lewis, Forward, 5-10, Sophomore, Prairie Du Chien, Wis.
Lewis led the Blugolds in scoring in two games this week. Tuesday against St. Norbert College, she finished with 17 points but the Blugolds fell just short 57-55. Saturday in a 75-68 loss at Cornell College (Iowa), she reached a career high 20 points as she went 7-for-11 from the field and 4-for-4 from the free throw line. She also had four rebounds and three assists Saturday, which was second most on the team. For the week, Lewis averaged 18.5 points as she shot 65.2 percent (15-for-23) from the field, including 3-for-5 from beyond the arc (60 percent), while also going 4-for-4 from the free throw line. She also finished with five rebounds, four assists and two steals.

November 12, 2012-November 18, 2012

Courtney Lewis, Forward, 5-10, Sophomore, Prairie Du Chien, Wis.
In two games this weekend, Lewis averaged 18 points per game as she led the Blugolds in scoring both nights of the UW-Eau Claire Tip-Off Classic. Friday in the Blugolds' season-opener against Northland College, a team the Blugolds beat 69-41, Lewis had a game and career-high 18 points as she went 8-for-10 from the field and 2-for-3 from the free throw line. Saturday she scored a team-best 18 points but the Blugolds fell to Simpson College (Iowa) 70-52. Lewis was a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line against the Storm and also tied for a team-high six rebounds Saturday. For the week, she shot 57.7 percent (15-for-26) from the field, 6-for-7 (85.7 percent) from the free throw line, pulled down nine rebounds and finished with seven assists.
