Garrity played a huge role in this weekend's first round NCHA playoff series win. While the Blugolds were forced to play in a minigame after a 4-2 victory over Superior on Friday and a 5-0 loss on Saturday, Garrity scored the minigame's only goal to allow the Blugolds to advance in the playoffs. He also picked up two assists on Friday, to allow the Blugolds to win their first playoff game since 1995. The series win is also the first time in program history that the Blugolds have won a first-round series to advance in the NCHA playoffs.

Brigl posted his fourth shutout of the season as the Blugolds defeated UW-Stevens Point 2-0 on Saturday. The win allowed the Blugolds to move up to a fifth place finish in the NCHA, their best finish since the 2001-02 season. In the victory, Brigl stopped 19 shots, bringing his save total to 532 on the season. He has saved 90.3 percent of shots faced this year. Brigl's four shutouts this year is the most in a single year in program history. He now has five shutouts in his career which ranks first all-time among Blugold goalies.

The Blugolds played well this weekend, but were unable to pick up a win in two overtime games. On Friday the Blugolds led most of the way but Superior scored at 6:42 in the third period to force overtime. They then scored at 1:01 in the overtime to take the 2-1 victory over the Blugolds. On Saturday St. Scholastica came to town and led most of the way but Eau Claire scored twice in the third to force overtime. Neither team found the net in overtime, and the game ended in a 2-2 tie. Garrity had a good weekend for the Blugolds, scoring the game-tying, power play goal with seven seconds remaining in the game on Saturday to force overtime. Garrity is leading the team with 23 points on the season, 10 goals and 13 assists, which is also tied for 13th in the conference.

John Kearns, 6-0, 205, Defenseman, Freshman, Park Ridge, Ill.
While the Blugolds suffered a 4-1 loss to UW-Stout on Friday, they bounced back for a shutout victory of 5-0 over No. 6 UW-River Falls on Saturday. On Friday, Kearns assisted on the Blugolds' only goal, his fourth of the season. Late in the first period on Saturday, Kearns would find the net on a power play to score the first goal of his collegiate career, which would eventually be the game-winning goal. Kearns also played solid defense to allow the Blugolds to tally their second shutout of the season.

In two road games this weekend, Eau Claire dropped one 3-0 at No. 1 St. Norbert, which averaged almost four goals per game coming in, on Friday and brought home a 4-2 victory over Lake Forest on Saturday. Brigl played well in goal for the Blugolds, playing all 60 minutes in each game. Brigl stopped 52 shots this weekend, bringing his season total to 408. He now has an 89.3 save percentage and a 2.64 goals against average.

While the Blugolds dropped a 2-1 road game at Stevens Point, Coach Matt Loen got great goaltending from Tyler Brigl who made 27 saves. One of the Pointers' goals came on a 5-on-3 power play. Brigl has been the victim in four 2-1 decisions this year and in six one-goal setbacks. For the season, he has a 2.66 goals against average and an .890 saves percentage.

The Blugolds lost two non-conference games this weekend with Augsburg College winning 4-2 Friday and Hamline University defeating Eau Claire 4-3 Saturday. Petersen scored three goals and added one assist over the weekend. Petersen scored the Blugolds' first and last goals on Saturday and final goal on Friday. He also contributed with an assist in the Blugolds' first goal on Friday. Petersen is now third on the team this season with 12 points (four goals, eight assists).

Nate Smith, Sophomore, Center, 6-0, 213, Clayton, Wis.
This weekend the Blugolds went 1-1, winning 6-3 at home Friday against Lawrence University and losing 3-7 to Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Saturday. In Friday's game, Smith had a hand in the game's first goal, game winning goal and final goal of the game. Smith scored his first goal of his collegiate career at 14:29 in the first period, an even strength goal. In the third period, Smith scored the game winning goal, putting the Blugolds up 4-3. Later in the third, Smith assisted on the game's final goal.

Ross Janecyk, Freshman, Wing, 5-9, 189, Grand Rapids, Mich.
The Blugolds suffered a non-conference loss this week to the Pointers, losing 0-5 in Stevens Point. While the Blugolds were unable to find the net, they outshot the Pointers 26-21. Janecyk played very well in the game and had a number of scoring opportunities. On the season, Janecyk has two assists and has played in all but one game.

Allowed just three goals in two NCHA road victories at St. Scholastica and Superior this past weekend. Stopped 45 of 48 shots (.937 saves percentage) in those two triumphs after losing a 3-1 non-conference decision to nationally-ranked St. Thomas Wednesday. For the week, Brigl stopped 55 of 61 shots (.901 saves percentage). Three of the six goals he allowed were on the power play. Faced nine power play situations against Superior and gave up a lone goal. St. Scholastica was 1 for 5 with the man advantage. First back-to-back NCHA wins for the Blugolds since they beat the same two opponents, AT HOME, Jan. 16-17, 2004.

Facing two ranked opponents this weekend, the Blugolds came up short twice but only lost on Saturday in the game's final seconds. In Friday's game at No. 1 UW-River Falls, the Blugolds lost 3-5, although the game was tied 3-3 until the final nine minutes of the game. In Saturday's 1-2 loss to No. 8 UW-Stout, the Blugolds were tied 1-1 all the way until the final 29 seconds of the game when Stout would score to take the lead. On Friday, Garrity scored the Blugolds' first two goals, his fourth and fifth of the season. Both were even-strength goals. He also assisted on the Blugolds' final goal of the game. Garrity now leads the team in scoring with five goals and five assists on the season.

In two conference games this weekend, the Blugolds went 1-1, winning one on Friday against St. Norbert and losing a close one on Saturday to St. Norbert. In Friday's win, Brigl tallied his second shutout of the season in the 2-0 victory. He was in goal the entire game and had 16 saves, while the Blugolds outshot the Foresters 47-16. In Saturday's 1-2 loss to St. Norbert, Brigl had 24 saves. While the Blugolds again outshot their opponent 29-26, only one shot would find the net in the third period for the Blugolds. Brigl is now 4-3 on the season and has 160 saves (.909 average).

This weekend, the Blugolds split their games, winning 6-4 against St. Mary's on Friday and losing 5-4 to St. Thomas on Saturday. Plaszcz scored the Blguolds' second goal of the game on Friday in the win over St. Mary's, his second of the season. Plaszcz also helped the defense allow only 15 shots the entire game, while the Blugolds took 46.

In two games this weekend, Brigl stopped 44 shots and led the Blugolds to a shutout over St. John's on Saturday. In Friday's 2-1 loss to Concordia-Moorhead, Brigl saved 17 shots, and in Saturday's victory over St. John's he was able to stop 27. Brigl's shutout on Saturday is only the 20th in program history and is only the second time the Blugolds have record a shutout since 2002. Brigl is now 2-1 on the season, has played all but one minute and 30 seconds and has a .944 save percentage.

In the Blugolds' season opening 5-3 victory over the St. Scholastica Saints, Garrity picked up where he left off last season, leading the Blugolds in goals scored. Garrity's first goal of the season came early in the second period on a power play. One period later, Garrity would find the net a second time and score the Blugolds' game-winning goal. The victory over the Saints is interim head coach Matt Loen's first career win and is the second year in a row the Blugolds have won the season-opener. While St. Scholastica came into the game unranked, they received 20 votes which put them just out of the top 15 teams in the nation in the USCHO.com NCAA Division III preseason poll.
