2006-07 Basketball Athletes of the Week

February 12, 2007-February 18, 2007

"Dan Beyer, Junior, Inside, Waukesha, WI/Catholic Memorial"
Beyer led the Blugolds in scoring, including a 40-point effort at UW-Whitewater, as the Blugolds lost two conference games by a combined three points in the final week of regular season play. In a 58-56 loss to UW-Superior Beyer led the Blugolds with 13 points and both teams in rebounding with eight to go with one assist, one block and one steal. In a 73-72 loss at UW-Whitewater Beyer helped lead a second half charge that saw the Blugolds trail by as many as 19 points with 18:41 remaining in the second half. Beyer scored 26 of the Blugolds 42 second-half points as he ended the game making 15-of-21 field goal attempts including 1-of-2 three-point field goals and 9-of-10 free throws. Beyer had a game-high eight rebounds, including six offensive rebounds, to go with two steals, one assist and one block. Beyer's 40 points and 15 made field goals are the most by any WIAC player this season. For the week Beyer averaged 26.5 points, eight rebounds, 1.5 steals, one assist and one block per game making 20-of-31 field goals, 2-of-5 three-point field goals and 11-of-12 free throws.

January 29, 2007-February 4, 2007

"Dan Beyer, Inside, 6-7, Junior, Waukesha, WI/Catholic Memorial"
Beyer set a new career high for points in a game as the Blugolds went 1-1 for the week. In a loss at third-ranked UW-Stevens Point led both teams with 27 points and 10 rebounds playing 33 minutes. Beyer made 10-of-13 field goal attempts including 1-of-2 three-point field goals and 6-of-10 free throws to establish a new career best for points in a game. The game also marked Beyer's fourth double-double in six games and fifth overall for the season. In a 75-69 victory against Finlandia (MI) Beyer was one of five Blugolds in double-digit points with 13 to go along with a game-high eight rebounds. For the week Beyer averaged 20 points and nine rebounds per game connecting on 13-of-24 field goals, 3-of-5 three-point field goals and 11-of-18 free throws to go with two assists and two steals for the week.

January 22, 2007-January 28, 2007

Beyer continues to improve both as a scorer and rebounder as the Blugolds lost a pair of WIAC contest this week. In an 80-69 loss to UW-Stout Beyer recorded his fourth double-double of the year and third in last four games with a team-high 16 points and game-best 11 rebounds. In a 61-58 setback at UW-Platteville Beyer again led the Blugolds in points with 17 and rebounds with five. Beyer made 8-of-10 field goals against the Pioneers. For the week Beyer averaged 16.5 points, eight rebounds and 1.5 assists per game making 14-of-21 field goals, two-of-four three-point field goals and three-of-four free throws in addition to grabbing six offensive rebounds and one steal in two games.

January 15, 2007-January 21, 2007

"Dan Beyer, Inside, 6-7, Junior, Waukesha, WI/Catholic Memorial"
Beyer helped the Blugolds earn back-to-back conference wins defeating UW-Superior 72-65 and over 16th-ranked UW-La Crosse 65-47. On the road at Superior Beyer was one of four Blugolds in double-digit points scoring 11 as the Blugolds earned their first conference road win and third straight win over the Yellowjackets. In the victory over the Eagles Beyer scored a team-high 12 points to go along with a game-high 12 rebounds, four coming on the offensive end. It was the third double-double Beyer has posted this season and second in his last three games. The win snapped a three-game losing skid to the Eagles and marked the first time that the Blugolds have won back-to-back conference games since defeating UW-Oshkosh and UW-La Crosse on consecutive games December 7 and 11 of 2004. For the week Beyer averaged 11.5 points, seven rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.0 blocks and 1.0 steals per game connecting on 10-of-15 field goals and 3-of-4 free throws.

January 8, 2007-January 14, 2007

"Dan Beyer, Inside, 6-7, Junior, Waukesha, WI/Catholic Memorial"
Beyer recorded his second double-double of the year including a career-high in rebounds as the Blugolds loss to UW-Platteville 53-47. Beyer led both teams with 16 points and 13 rebounds making 8-of-14 field goals and grabbing seven offensive rebounds in 34 minutes of action. In a loss to UW-Stevens Point Beyer led both teams again with six rebounds including a game-high four offensive rebounds. For the week Beyer averaged 12 points, 9.5 rebounds and two assists per game making 11-of-22 field goals, 2-of-3 free throws and one block in two games this week.

December 18, 2006-December 31, 2006

"Jared Bardon, Inside/Outside, 6-3, Junior, DeForest, WI"
Bardon was named to the 38th Annual UW-Eau Claire Holiday Classic All-Tournament team as the Blugolds defeated Marian 73-54 and fell to defending Iowa Conference champion Wartburg (IA) 75-70 in the championship game. Against Marian Bardon was one of four Blugolds in double-digit points chipping in 13 to go along with six rebounds, one assist and one steal. In the championship game against the Knights Bardon scored a career-high and tournament-best 30 points to go along with eight rebounds, three of the offensive end, and two steals. For the tournament Bardon averaged 21.5 points, seven rebounds and 1.5 steals per game making 17-of-26 field goals including 7-of-12 three-point field goals.

December 11, 2006-December 17, 2006

"Dan Beyer, Inside, 6-7, Junior, Waukesha, WI/Catholic Memorial"
Beyer posted his first career double-double and helped extend the current Blugold win streak to four games with a pair of wins this season. In a 72-60 win over St. Scholastic (MN) Beyer had career-best totals of 22 points and 12 rebounds in 38 minutes of play. Against the Saints the Blugolds recorded assists on 25-of-28 made shots. At Finlandia Beyer scored 11 points in 19 minutes as the Blugolds defeated the Lions 90-57. Beyer had a game-best four assists against just one turnover as the Blugolds recorded assists on 25-of-32 made shots. For the week Beyer averaged 16.5 points, eight rebounds and 3.5 assists per game making 14-of-20 field goals (70.0%), 1-of-3 three-point field goals (33.3%) and four-of-five free throws (80.0%) in addition to one block and one steal.

December 4, 2006-December 10, 2006

"Jared Bardon, Outside, 6-3, Junior, DeForest, WI"
Bardon was the leading scorer for the Blugolds who won their first conference game and have a season-best two game winning streak. In a 63-62 victory over UW-River Falls Bardon tied for a team-best 16 points and three assists. In a 75-47 win at Northland Bardon again led the Blugolds in scoring with 17 points in addition to four rebounds, four assists, two steals and one block. Bardon had a 4:1 assist-to-turnover ratio to go with a perfect two-for-two shooting from three-point range. For the week Bardon averaged 16.5 points, 3.5 assists, three steals and one steal per game making 14-of-27 field goals, three-of-five three-point field goals and two-of three field goals.

November 20, 2006-November 26, 2006

"Geoff Probst, Inside/Outside, 6-6, Freshman, Moose Lake, MN/University of North Dakota"
In his first game as a Blugold, Probst scored 19 points off the bench in 14 minutes as the Blugolds won on the road at St. Mary's (MN) 78-65. Probst led all scorers with 19 points connecting on 8-of-10 field goal attempts, including three-of-three three-point field goal attempts. Probst also added one rebound, an offensive put back, and one steal.

November 13, 2006-November 19, 2006

"Matt Riley, Inside/Outside, 6-2, Senior, Cadott, WI"
Riley was named to the Manchester (IN) Tip-Off All-Tournament team as the Blugolds went 1-1 on the weekend. In a 69-61 win versus Alma (MI) Riley recorded a double-double scoring 14 points and a game-best 10 rebounds, including five on the offensive end. In the tournament championship game against host Manchester Riley scored a game-high 19 points making five-of-six fields, including three-of-three three-point attempts, to go along with netting six-of-six free throws. For the weekend Riley led all Blugold scorers averaging 16.5 points per game to go with six rebounds per contest. Riley made 10-of-17 field goals (.588), four-of-six three-point field goals (.667) and nine-of-10 free throws (.900) in two games.
