Offense: Kyle Paulson, Quarterback, 6-5, 219, Senior, Amery, Wis.
Paulson recorded three passing touchdowns in the Blugolds' season opening win against Bethel University (Tenn.). In the 21-7 victory, Paulson threw for 172 yards, going 13-for-18. In the opening quarter, he hit Brett Schreiner with a five yard pass to put the Blugolds on the board and followed that with a 44-yard pass to Cory Sartorelli later in the quarter to put the Blugolds up 14-0. He then hit David Goodman in the fourth quarter on a 24-yard pass to give Eau Claire the 21-7 advantage. Paulson also ran for 51 yards on 15 attempts.
Defense: Bryant Dorsey, Inside Linebacker, 6-2, 243, Senior, De Pere, Wis.
In the Blugolds' opening game of the season, Dorsey led the Blugolds with six tackles to help Eau Claire to a 21-7 victory over Bethel University (Tenn.). Dorsey recorded five solo tackles and one assist, including two tackles for losses. Along with the rest of the defense, Dorsey helped shut down the Bethel offensive, allowing just 176 yards of total offense (99 rushing and 77 passing).
Special Teams: David Goodman, Wide Receiver, 6-2, 184, Sophomore, Neenah, Wis.
In the Blugolds' 21-7 win over Bethel University (Tenn.) to open the 2009 season, Goodman ran back four punts for 43 yards. He had a long of 22 yards in the second quarter. He also led the Blugolds in receiving with 62 yards, recording 105 all-purpose yards for the game.
